Asiago Cheese Puff Appetizer, Cheese Appetizers, easy appetizer recipe

Makes 20 appetizers

5 thin sandwich bread slices
1 cup Asiago cheese, finely grated
2 tablespoons yellow onion, finely chopped
3 tablespoons mayonnaise
3/4 teaspoon fresh Thyme, finely chopped
pinch salt
dash of Cayenne pepper

Trim crusts from bread.  Cut 4 round (or square) pieces from each slice. Bake on sheet pan at 400° for 3 to 4 minutes or until lightly toasted. This can be done ahead of time; covered at room temperature.

In small bowl combine Asiago cheese, onion, mayonnaise, thyme, salt and cayenne pepper, spread on toasted bread.  Return to oven, bake 5 to 8 minutes or until cheese is puffed and golden. Serve hot or cold.

Wine recommendation: Pinot Gris
